BENT – Awarded 2024 Allentown Art Festival 2nd Prize for the Sculpture shown above
COLLABORATION PIECE – J. Brian Pfeiffer and Jeffrey Loucks
Jeff collaborated with Brian Pfeiffer, www.instagram.com/sculptorssoulstudio, and provided the wooden globe for Brian’s grant project for the Erie Cattaraugus Rail Trail Sculpture Alley, an old railroad bed in Springfield, NY. The wooden “world” sphere was created from spalted maple and dyed with two colors only.
RECLAMATION
TWISTED / WAVE BOWL / SERENDIPITREE
This piece above evolved from a maple tree I carved into an abstract totem for the Arts Council of Wyoming County due to a grant that I received in 2021. As I was shaping the tree, I was intrigued by the inherent beauty resulting from a powerful lightning strike, and then removed it and saved it for a future sculptural piece. I determined it to be Fiddleback maple which had been spalted by the penetration of water as a result of the lightning strike. Hence, I call this sculpture Thunder.
